La Ceiba Primary Rainforest Foundation
The La Ceiba Primary Forest Foundation Fundación La Ceiba Primary Forest contributes to the conservation and welfare of wildlife living in the Costa Rican South Caribbean region and manages the Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) Centro de Rescate Jaguar which provides veterinary services, round-the-clock care and nurturing to wild animals that would otherwise be unable to survive.
THE RESIDENCY:
This immersive experience is open to writers, visual artists, filmmakers, photographers and all other artists whose work raises funds and awareness for the wild. The residency includes a private tour of the JRC, dedicated time with the JRC staff, and a guided hike in La Ceiba.
Residents must be dedicated to wildlife conservation and in addition to their personal work, will collaborate on a project on behalf of the Jaguar Rescue Center.
La Ceiba House is immersed in primary rainforest. It is wooden, rustic-style chalet that features a furnished terrace and equipped kitchen. This includes a desk, bookshelf, balcony where you will regulary see spider monkeys, howler monkeys, Great Green macaws, and countless other species. There is a comfortable seating area with furniture made from fallen trees, a hammock, wardrobe, bathroom with shower, kitchen (including refrigerator, oven, toaster, coffee machine), dining area, dining table, and an outdoor dining area.
While the bedroom has a door artists can close, this is otherwise a covered, open air chalet. Artists must be comfortable experiencing solitude with the elements. The JRC is closeby if anything is needed.
